Nedlands Primary School Centenary
Campaign / Creative Direction / Print / Photography / Graphic Design
Nedlands Primary School, established in 1913, marked its centenary with a strategic campaign designed not only to celebrate its rich history but to strengthen community and donor engagement. The initiative positioned the school’s legacy alongside a compelling vision for its future, supporting a high-profile event attended by the Premier and Education Minister.
Through carefully crafted messaging and creative direction, the campaign invited families, alumni, and investors to play an active role in the school’s next chapter, blending celebration with meaningful fundraising intent.
The brief:
Create centenary collateral that captured the spirit of the school through its playgrounds, classrooms and, most importantly, its students.
Designed to feel joyful and real, the pieces became both outward-facing campaign material and keepsakes celebrating 100 years of stories, while setting the tone for everything that followed.
The solution centred on a playful photoshoots with the students, capturing the energy and heart of the school. Historical imagery was blended with the new, merging sepia tones with the punchy, vibrancy of the school, blending past and present in a way that felt joyful, proud, and dynamic.
Photography & Book Design
The fundraiser brought students and a local artist together to create a series of sculptures celebrating 100 years of the school — hands-on, joyful pieces that the children could feel proud of. Alongside this, a commemorative book captured the school’s story through witty, insightful and at times deeply moving reflections from its community.
A dedicated photoshoot documented the key moments and the everyday energy of school life, giggles, big smiles and laughs. The book design honoured the past whilst feeling honouring and warm, pairing nostalgic sepia tones with the school’s vibrant blue to gently connect generations.
Outstanding Centenary Success
The campaigning was a massive success.
Premiers' Australia Day Active Citizenship Award for a Community Group or Event presented by the City of Nedlands was awarded to Nedlands Primary School Centenary Committee for fostering Australian pride and spirit through active citizenship and outstanding contribution to community.
The Centenary History books went on to sell out and serve as ongoing marketing material at school Open Days and music concerts hosted by the school.
